Cancer sufferer given two weeks to live is still here four years on

Claire Blair, 36, a mom of three girls, believes she has survived so long as she has been prescribed the drug Herceptin which stops breast cancer cells dividing and growing.

Mrs Blair said: “I would not be here without it. I still take it and I have to have other scans every three months which test my heart to check the drug is not affecting it.

“I always try and put those scans off because I am terrified they will stop me taking it. read more…

China: girl’s boyfriend advert attracts thousands of suitors

After leaving the message, thousands of eager potential boyfriends swarmed to the dormitory building where Zhang Mengqian lives.

The mass gathering occurred after the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in Chengdu, in southwest China’s Sichuan province, declared March 7 and 8 as a girls’ day for the female students.

The university, which has ratio of male and female students as 25:1, gave each female student a blank card, asking them to write their wish and post onto a special “wish wall”. read more…

Cheese rolling event cancelled

This year’s event, scheduled for May 31st, will not take place because of police and local council concerns about overcrowding on Cooper’s Hill, near Gloucester, organisers announced.

“We have had to cancel on the advice of the police and local authorities this year because of the issues of health and safety and other aspects,” stated Richard Jefferfies of the organising committee.

A German man owes his life to a woman who rescued him from 350 miles away.

The man – who got lost off the coast of St. Peter Ording near the Danish border after trying to watch a beautiful sunset – was rescued thanks to a woman who spotted his camera flashing from 350 miles away.

The female nature walker had been sitting in front of her computer in southern Germany after monitoring the same sunset, when she saw flashes and alerted local police. read more…

Dog-eating python strikes again

A THREE-METRE python that swallowed a family's pet dog in Cairns has struck again, attempting to devour a chihuahua.

But this time, the dog’s owner was able to prevent the animal from becoming dinner, dragging it out of the snake’s mouth, The Cairns Post reported.

Australian Venom Zoo operator Stuart Douglas was called to remove the python, keeping it temporarily at his zoo before releasing it into the wild at a secret location well away from domestic animals.

The same snake had stalked and eaten Dot, a nine-month-old Jack Russell terrier, while she was playing in her backyard the week before Christmas. read more…

Woman calls police on ‘burglar’ boyfriend

A German woman called police because she thought that a burglar was trying to break into her flat – only to discover that it was actually her boyfriend planning a romantic surprise. Unfortunately for her, he was in fact wanted on an outstanding warrant, so the cops arrested him anyway.

The woman called police after she heard someone climbing up to the balcony of her second storey apartment shortly after midnight, police stated on Thursday.

Police discovered the supposed burglar was actually a man carrying flowers and a bottle of wine, who they eventually established to be the woman’s boyfriend. read more…
