Chinese zoo announce special cross-species Valentine’s Day wedding

Zoo keepers at Yunnan Wild Animal Park in Kunming, southwest China, claim Chunzi and Changmao are completely inseparable and ‘deeply in love’ with each other.

‘We initially were in a great dilemma of whether to separate them, but their long insistence and commitment to true love changed our mind and won most people’s support,’ revealed zoo manager Li Li.

‘Now we have shown the courage to give them the grand wedding they deserve.’

Around 500 tickets have been made available for the event, while the zoo is also flogging commemorative T-shirts and gifts ahead of the wedding.

The unlikely duo hit the headlines last year when zoo workers attempted to separate them, moving them into different pens, with very tiny success.

Changmao the ram become violent following the enforced separation, while his partner got stuck in a fence as she attempted a reunion with her soon-to-be husband.

The couple are also a major hit online, with the wildlife park regularly asking its millions of website viewers for advice on the odd couple.
