THERE are bad Valentine's Days, then there are tragic ones, but a woman in Denver has won a free trip to a Hollywood motion picture premiere after revealing her horror tale of romance gone wrong, MyFox National reported.

Fox 31 in Denver, Colorado ran a Worst Valentine’s Day Ever competition, offering viewers the grand prize of a trip to Hollywood to see the world premiere of the aptly-named motion picture Valentine’s Day.

The station announced the winner was local divorcee, Chris, who suffered her worst Valentine’s Day 16 years ago when her divorce was made final.

"But to make matters worse was to find out that my own mom was dating my now ex-husband and had been for quite some time," she wrote.

"They are still together today, so Valentine’s Day is spent trying not to think about it," she wrote. "Wait, I try not to think about it every day."

Runners up in the competition included Thomas – who had a nasty Valentine’s Day mishap due to preparations for a colonoscopy the next day – a teenager who was peed on by a dog, and a woman who celebrated her engagement in 2004.

The latter may not sound like a disaster, but she detailed how her then-boyfriend handed over the engagement ring to her dad for him to present her with during a toast.

"He got up and read the inscription," she wrote. "It was sweet, it read "Darrell Loves Misty". Problem is my name is Jessica."

"We did get married and have three great kids, even though he is a forgetful man."

What he is probably realized since then is that when it comes to Valentine’s Day, it’s ideal for husbands and boyfriends never to forget.
