Listed pink building
A British couple have infuriated neighbours after painting their house bright pink.
Mr Rogers and Mrs Hall, both 50 – who live in the picturesque village of Acton Beauchamp, Herefordshire – have become embroiled in a planning dispute with neighbours after painting their 400-year-old Grade II-Listed cottage a garish colour.
Council planners have ordered the cottage is painted white again because it’s a listed building but the couple have lodged an appeal with the Government’s Planning Inspectorate to have it delisted.
Neighbour Brian Taylor said: “It’s an absolute disgrace and makes the whole village look tacky. It’s a garish blot on the village.”
Mrs Hall claimed neighbours were simply “jealous”.
She said: “This paint colour was not chosen willy-nilly or on a whim. The people protesting are probably just jealous because we have had a massive extension put onto our cottage which has made the house bigger.”
