A baby boy weighing 7.04 kilograms or 15.5 pounds, is born in central China. State media reports that it may be the heaviest baby on record in China.

A MOTHER in central China has given birth to a7kg baby, possibly the largest newborn in the country's record books.

The state-run Tianjin Post stated the 29-year-old mom in Henan province gave birth to the boy on Saturday by caesarean section. It stated delivery took just 20 minutes and both mom and the baby, named Chun Chun, are doing fine.

The paper stated Chun Chun’s parents are average size and there was nothing uncommon about his mom’s pregnancy or diet.

The paper stated it was not immediately clear whether Chun Chun’s 7.04kg (15.52lb) made China’s record books.

Guinness World Records states the heaviest newborn ever recorded was born to an Ohio woman in 1879 and weighed 10.77kg (23.7lb).
