Toilet squatters
Ten Chinese squatters could be evicted from their home in a public toilet.
Ai Lian has revealed how she and her husband were forced to move into the loos over a year ago, because they could no longer afford to pay rent on their home.
Since they moved, they have been joined by eight of Ai’s co-workers and friends.
She said: “We have got used to the strong smell of urine.”
Ai – who lives in Hangzhou, Zhekiang – has set up camp in the women’s lavatories and cooks dinner for her companions on camping stoves every day.
Her bed and tv are lined up next to the row of cubicles.
Now local officials have discovered their unconventional living arrangements, the group face being forced to move out.
